Ashley Moyé: News
Is an anonymous twitter user really a reliable source of information? In my opinion, a contributor to an online wannabe-news-publisher seems to think so.
Now that Johnny Depp has opted to settle his defamation case against Heard, rather than submitting his response to Heard’s appeal (read, he likely had a trump card which Heard knew would ruin her, in my opinion), I feel that it is appropriate for me to point out that the Amicus Curiae Brief in Support of Plaintiff’s Trial Brief, which I submitted to the court on June 29, 2020, was never disputed or dismissed. FYI, a judge does not decide on the validity of claims/papers presented to the court, unless a party in the case files a motion, presents evidence, and makes a valid argument for the judge to decide in the disputing party’s favor. Look for a dismissal of my brief. It would be in the form of an order. It doesn’t exist.
Reiterating the contents of an amicus curiae brief during a trial is redundant, as the brief is read by a judge in chambers and/or by the jury during deliberations (at the latest). It would have been fun to watch Heard squirm, though, if Johnny’s counsel had specifically confronted Heard regarding my sworn testimony, as she already conceded to its truthfulness by not objecting to it.
Now, if you would like to know whether or not the jury’s decision to find Heard guilty of defamation was influenced by my brief, feel free to ask them.
They say “no good deed goes unpunished.” Well, with all the garbage that has been said about Johnny, I feel like I got off easy.
